We are looking for talented developers with experience in designing PHP & Java software for distributed, highly available systems.

This role reports into one of our Software Development Team Leads in our Edinburgh office and plays an active role within our Global Software Engineering team.

Role

• Provide technical expertise for applications, which include secure, mission critical transaction processing systems.

• Collaborate with team members and internal stakeholders to ensure requirements meet customer needs.

• Produce innovative technical solutions to meet business and product strategies.

• Collaborate with Operations to ensure successful production deployment of software.

All About You

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent work experience.

• Experience developing large scale PHP services and/or web user interfaces.

• Commercial experience with languages other than PHP, particularly Java & JavaScript.

• Familiarity with high availability distributed systems, SOA and RESTful messaging.

• Experience in Agile/Scrum development.

• Proven experience working in a continuous integration environment and prefer collective code ownership.

• Ability to automate unit, integration and system tests.

• Knowledgeable about security concerns such as OWASP Top 10 and PCI DSS is desirable.

• Familiarity with APACS, ISO 8583, EMV or other card payment standards desirable.

• Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.

• Actively involved in your own professional development and skills growth.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Customer Communications Specialist to join a globally recognised financial services company based in Edinburgh. This role is a 6-month contract however, has the possibility to extend further.

As Customer Communications Specialist your main task would be to support the defining, run testing and learn communication activities for Persistent Debt customers particularly:

Key Responsibilities

  • To find creative ways to communicate with customers at the 18-month point by giving personalised payment info in a separate communication for the generic notice letters.
  • Set up MI reporting to track performance and give recommendations on what communications are working or not.  Need to work closely with Customer Management analysts and be comfortable dealing with 3rd party providers. 

Core skills required are planning, attention to detail, written and verbal communications, analysis, stakeholder management and project management.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Software Development Engineer to join a global financial company for a 12-month contract. You would be joining a friendly team within a fast paced, challenging, agile environment and you will be developing, testing and delivering changes to our transaction engines, reporting tools and supporting systems.

Key Responsibilities

•     Develop and maintain software applications to a high standard

•     Comprehensively test software through automated test frameworks

•     In the context of our agile methodology, agree and meet delivery commitments

•     Take responsibility for leading development changes with minimal supervision

•     Assist with mentoring less experienced engineers

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in Java, ideally Java 8.
  • 4 years in software engineer/ developer roles.
  • Prior experience in problem solving and someone who thrives in this environment.
  • Experience with Perl, Jenkins, Git, Apache and RESTful web services.
  • Previous experience within the finical sector – desirable.
