What you'll bring:

You'll bring a broad range of experience in modern open source stacks, so don't worry if you haven't got strong experience in every skill listed below.   • Experience of commodity cloud providers such as AWS or Azure in a production system.

  • Good understanding of the Hashicorp Suite (Packer, Terraform, Vault, Vagrant, Consul)

  • Networking knowledge including switching, routing, VPN's, Load balancing (Software/hardware), CDN
  • Security knowledge including Firewalls (Software/hardware), IPS/IDS, Antivirus, SIEM, IDaM, DDOS
  • Experience debugging a complex, multi-server service in a high availability production environment.

Systems Engineering Team Lead

Role profile:

Within this role you will be expected to lead all aspects of Systems Engineering. Implement an engineering structure to deliver against business strategy and engineering demand and providing back office engineering support for the Technical Operational Teams across the Business. Developing the team into an effective engineering team able to deal with the wide range of technologies and practices within the space. Ensure compliance with client & internal procedures in production of all Engineering deliverables.

Main responsibilities:

  • Provide and develop the technical authority role for all projects and support contracts as agreed with the Head of Public Safety & Defense Engineering, taking the lead where required to ensure success.
  • Monitor, co-ordinate and supervise the team activities of team members, setting priorities for team members to assure task completion.  Reporting all activities and progress to the Head of PS&D Engineering.
  • Maintain and evolve technical practices and policies as technology demands ensuring alignment with engineering best practice and business policies.
  • Apply continual service improvement to all aspects of technical delivery and back office support.
  • Deputize for the Head of PS&D Engineering during periods of absence, taking on the delegated authority for financial aspects.
  • Act as the senior reviewer and approver for all technical documentation.

  • Conduct design reviews with project and operational teams periodically to ensure compliance.

  • Ensure all design documentation reflects the system implementation to a high degree.

Role Profile:

This role will provide support for all teams within the Software department that is expanding the development of their products to meet ongoing customer requirements. Working with agile teams, which use scrum principles as their foundation, their primary focus will be supporting the build and release process for multiple products along with overseeing the migration of our current infrastructure to a new managed service platform.

We are looking for someone who has a passion for software delivery and who thrives in a collaborative working environment. In this role they will become a trusted adviser to both the teams and business, working closely with IT infrastructure, network engineers and developers to bridge the gap between development and the release of live products. Two fantastic opportunities have opened for two experienced Service Desk Managers to take charge of the Service Desk within a successfully global company.

The successful person will effectively manage the Service Desk support team within a busy, well-established, site based in Burton-Upon-Trent. They will be the primary escalation point for support issues and efficiently manage the resolution process both off site and on site whilst managing the Support Team.

Key Requirements:

  • Initial on-site presence during / post migration (as appropriate – may not be all migrations)
  • Primary escalation point after a case has been logged with the relevant Service Desk or supplier
  • Responsibility for ensuring the following the correct support and escalation processes are carried out
  • Triage calls post migration to run through open and known issues
  • Responsibility for the ongoing training of IHG Service Desk and other support teams
  • Owner and writer of knowledge articles, including the use of and success of these articles
