Desktop Support Engineer / BAU Support – PART-TIME

Desktop Support, Windows 7/8/10, Active Directory, Customer Facing, IT Services. PART-TIME – 3 DAYS PER WEEK

A leading IT Managed Services business requires a Desktop Support Engineer for part-time role based in Glasgow. The Engineer will deliver various IT support services at the customer site, focused around resolving IT problems, configuring PC’s, installing, upgrading and replacing core hardware and software. Other responsibilities will include: assisting project teams for IT implementations, installations and upgrades; and asset & warranty management;


To be considered, candidates will have:

  • Proven experience in a 2nd line Desktop Support capacity.
  • Experience providing support both by phone and deskside.
  • Experience of call logging & reporting in an ITSM tool preferably Service Now.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and MAC client operating systems as well as various software packages including Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Technology including AD, SCCM.
  • Good understanding of computer systems, mobile devices (iPhone) and other products
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems with enthusiasm.
  • A flexible approach and good team working skills.

Fibre Engineer

£350 - £400

Our Glasgow based client requires two Fibre Services Engineers for an initial 3-month contract to assist them with the planning, design and delivery of fibre and copper pilot cables.

The purpose of this role is to provide those planning and design services as well as support a Project Management Office during the delivery phase of these activities.

Please note to the nature of this project and time constraints candidates will need to hold valid and current Security Clearance.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Design of the external elements of the Fibre and Duct Network for new customer connections
  • Plan and design all external duct and fibre/copper infrastructure to achieve customer site connections.
  • Use customer CAD drawings and GIS as necessary as well as conduct site surveys and attend site meetings.
  • Engage with supply chains to obtain costed responses to designs/plans and validate/challenge responses as necessary.

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable knowledge of fibre network construction & architecture practices
  • Demonstrable knowledge of NRSWA
  • Ability to read fibre optic test results (OTDR, ILM’s)
  • Demonstrable AutoCAD capability
  • Some knowledge of Scottish Power & OpTel Network Architecture
  • Ability to use SmallWorld GIS
  • SC level Security Clearance
