My client is a large IT Managed Services company and are currently recruiting an experienced Service Desk Manager for a 3 month contract to be based on site with their end client, a large Online Retail business. The Service Desk Manager is required to oversee timely delivery of quality technical support service to staff during an increasingly busy time. The Service Desk Manager will manage the day to day operations of the busy, high volume Service Desk and ensure that Service Desk staff meet and exceed KPIs and SLAs.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the Service Desk team in a high volume ticket environment including performance, call management and efficiency whilst maintaining high service standards
  • Monitor support calls, identify trends and gaps and take appropriate steps to improve the quality of service delivery
  • Liaise with stakeholders in the business and build positive working relationships with the operational leads and office managers.
  • Assist in managing, motivating and developing members of the IT Service Desk team by communicating, supporting, coaching, monitoring and appraising.
  • Development and enforcement of technical standards, systems, policies, and procedures

Essential Skills:

  • All round Service Desk Manager with at least 2 years' experience in a similar role in a busy service desk environment
  • Excellent team management skills
  • Ability to organise, prioritise and plan schedules and workloads
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes

SQL DBA – SQL, SQL Server, DBA, Database Administrator

An experienced SQL DBA is required to work for a leading Retail organisation, on a 3 month contract basis, to work and support several ongoing and new projects. The Senior SQL Database Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of SQL Server infrastructure in order to minimise day to day housekeeping and maximise system availability.

Responsibilities:

  • Support multiple Business Areas with the management, maintenance and monitoring of the core SQL server infrastructure
  • Ensure reliable performance and availability of the SQL server infrastructure including managing both ad-hoc and scheduled change requests
  • Provide crucial support to the Service Management and Delivery Team
  • Ensure change management and configuration updates is handled as per defined process

Key skills and experience:

  • Proven experience of providing DBA Support at a senior level
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2, 2012, 2014
  • Microsoft SQL Server Clustering / GEO – Clustering / Always On- Data Management, Warehouse, ETL and Cube processing
  • Writing scripts, Log Shipping, producing reports, performance tuning, automated back-ups, security, etc.
  • Strong availability and disaster recovery experience
  • SQL SME with a Microsoft Certification in SQL
